Idea: This large group activity encourages children
to listen and communicate. It builds self-esteem
by allowing children to make choices. The teacher has control at first, but
gradually gives each child control by offering choices.

Beginning:
(Tune:
Mamma Loves Shortenin’ Bread) Sing: “Everybody clap like me, clap
like me, clap like me. Just like me.” Clap in rhythm.
Middle: Sing: “Everybody move like (child’s name), move like (child’s name), move like (child’s name), Just like (child’s name).” Move your body like the child directed.
End: Invite all toddlers to clap. Chant and clap, “(Child’s name), (Child’s name), jump up and down, jump up and down, (Child’s name), (Child’s name), Turn all around. (Child’s name), (Child’s name), and sit right down. Repeat with each child until all children are sitting down. Transition into next activity.
